You may need a Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) in different situations, depending on your goals and the type of support you are seeking.
For the NDIS: Many people need an FCA to either apply for the NDIS or to review and adjust their supports once they are already on the scheme. These assessments are comprehensive and evaluate your day-to-day functioning, support needs, and provide detailed recommendations about the types of supports you may require.
For other purposes: In some cases, an FCA can also be used as evidence for government or financial supports outside the NDIS, such as the Disability Support Pension or other funding and assistance programs.
In every case, an FCA is designed to clearly document your disability-related needs, helping you access the right supports and resources for your situation.
At Neuraffirm, your needs and experiences are at the heart of our approach. We understand neurodivergence, psychosocial, intellectual, and co-occurring physical conditions like POTS and hEDS, among others. While the NDIS outlines specific supports that can be funded, we prioritise recommending the supports that are truly necessary for you—whether those supports are NDIS-funded, self-funded, or covered by other health systems. Your preferences and lived experience are essential, and we collaborate with you to create the best recommendations. After your initial session, we’ll send our recommendations via email so you can review them and let us know if you’d like to request any changes. We believe that collaboration is the key to ensuring that the supports you receive are the right fit for you.
